The second letter was mailed using the 2c value of the Revolutionary stamp. It was sent from the battlefield and bears the Camaguey flag cancel.

SOLDIER'S LETTER. June 22, 1898 letter written by a soldier on board a ship outside Santiago waiting to land at Daiquiri. Stamp was glued on the envelope which was carried on board a ship to Brooklyn, NY where it entered the mail. This is one of the earliest covers from a member of the American troops.

The original letter now missing, recruiting a clerk for the Post Office, was written on board the ship to Cuba and mailed upon arrival.
